The Newbery book jackets are up on the wall outside the computer lab - if you're in the building, have a look! Many students are also completing the "Newbery Challenge" by reading a second award-winning book recommended by a classmate and responding to a few questions (see attached copy) - great reading, 4th Graders!

Coming up this week in class: Continuing our Eureka Math module on fractions, learning about the United States Government with our interactive notebooks, writing opinion essays, and reading an informational text about Earthquakes! Volunteer Opportunities: I have 27 potlatch t-shirts that need to be washed! I’m looking for 4 volunteers to take 8 shirts each to add to your laundry pile. No rush at all. Coming up this week in class: Continuing our Eureka Math module on fractions, taking our Storypath test on the early people of the Pacific Northwest Coast, writing opinion essays, finishing and sharing our Newbery book report project, celebrating Valentine's Day fun and friendship, and presenting our Potlatch! Valentine’s Day will be celebrated on Friday, 2/14 in Room 14. All students will have a Valentine’s mail sack/bag made and decorated at school. The mystery word is equivalent. Due to food allergies and dietary restrictions, we would like to suggest that no candy be distributed at school with student cards. Any candy (or food items) on cards will NOT be opened at school; it will be sent home. We will have a low key celebration that afternoon with a healthy snack of red and pink fruits and a science video. Our wonderful room parents will be soliciting donations soon. More information is in today’s take home folder and email newsletter. Book Report: The Newbery book jacket is due on Thursday, Febraury 13. At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
